Community Support

Since 1935 The Society has provided financial support to families and organizations in need within the Newton community. Meals, transportation and food drives for the elderly, support of the local veterans committee & annual Veterans Day parade, the local Boys & Girls Club, local parks and recreation upgrades and maintenance.

Scholarships

The society has provided financial scholarships to Newton North High School, Mt. Alvernia High School, Trinity Catholic High School & Newton South High School. With over $30,000 in scholarships donated to these local schools the society has provided financial assistance to a wide range of families throughout the community.

Italian-American Festival

For more than 75 years the St. Mary of Carmen Society has organized the annual Italian-American festival in Newton. We bring together our Nonantum neighborhood along with many of the surrounding communities to celebrate our traditions and heritage. This event is attended by over 10,000 people annually. Families and friends from all walks of life.

You or your business can support the St. Mary of Carmen Society in a variety of ways. We can highlight your business through key sponsorship of our annual Festival. You can place an ad in our ad book which is distributed to the festival attendees and surrounding businesses. As a non-profit organization (501 (c) (3), our ability to conduct a wide range of charitable ventures relies solely on the generous donations of businesses and individuals.
